This is a battery-powered vehicle carrying a single Lithium Ion Battery, designed by Narayan Subramaniam. The paper thin battery is shelved in the body itself to give that sleek look. It has a low ground clearance, but due to superior traction mechanism and suspension, it has a superior steering and stability. It also has a wind turbine slots to use the wind energy at higher speeds for an additional charging.Renault Eclipse is a concept vehicle that mixes the thrill of a bike with stability of a car. Its three tired design provides good aerodynamic to give the least possible resistance and have a superior performance. The design is inspired by some natural elements. The broader frame work is based shape of solar eclipse or a moon crescent. The seating arrangements for driver and passenger are designed in shape of a cocoon similar to the shape of a silk moth. The unique from suspension based on front two wheels give better stability and tilt control to the bike. The vehicle has an automated option for tilt control, which improves the driving process. Driver seating has been designed as in a car with reclining seat and passenger seating is as in a bike. The open nature of Renault Eclipse allows the rider to have that cabriolet experience, but here comes one very “interesting” question: What shall we do when the winter comes and the snow starts to fall?

Bugatti Veyron Here Comes the SS

Super Sport doesn’t begin to describe the muscle behind the 2011 Bugatti Veyron. With two tons and 1,200 horsepower at your disposal, you’ll feel like you rule the world.

At one time, the Bugatti Veyron was the fastest, most powerful, most expensive, most near-perfect production car in the world. It was considered a landmark in engineering and the best of its class. Not anymore.

Bugatti has topped itself with the Super Sport. According to the French marque, this new creation was a direct response to customer demand for a more extreme machine. It doesn’t hurt that Pierre-Henri Raphanel took it to 268 miles per hour, reclaiming the production car speed record that was briefly snatched by the Shelby Super Cars Ultimate Aero in 2007.

And though this Super Sport is a middle finger to the world as it stands right now—an economic and environmental Antichrist—that’s a problem for lesser minds to worry about. The Veyron Super Sport isn’t so much a car as it is a teleporter, as a mere tickle of the throttle makes it eat up road. Mash the right pedal and 1,183-brake horsepower (that’s 1,200 horsepower) is unleashed on the road. Most 1,000-brake horsepower cars would simply spin into the nearest tree if handled that way. The Super Sport measures every ounce of the 1,106 foot-pounds of torque and takes off like a bullet.

But it’s so much more than the headline numbers. It storms past 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, 125 mph in 6.7 seconds, and 185 mph in 14.6 seconds—four seconds faster than the “stock” Veyron. Customer cars, sadly, are limited to 258 mph to save the tires, which will cannibalize themselves in 15 minutes at full speed. Perhaps it’s lucky that the car runs out of fuel in 12. The Veyron Super Sport’s majesty lies in the fact that you will run out of nerve, police goodwill, and freedom long before the car runs out of puff.

There is a new aero setup, and under the skin the car gets four bigger turbos, revised cooling to cope with the W-16 (a 16-cylinder piston internal-combustion engine), a quad turbocharged furnace mounted in the middle, a new exhaust, and trick suspension. Even the monocoque sports a lighter, more expensive variety of carbon fiber. They may be small changes, but they add up.

The eight-liter powerhouse explodes into life with noticeably more aggression than the old car. While the 1,001-horsepower version settled into a near-sedate idle, the Super Sport pulsates, throbs, and cusses. But when it comes time to roll and you shift into drive, the Super Sport pulls away smoothly, which is incredible considering how much torque it must contain.

Within minutes we’re doing stupid speeds on single-track roads, but the car is imperious and hides its more than two tons of mass (that’s 4,052 pounds). The weight evaporates at the apex and the car dances through bends with Olympic grace.

Though you’d never even think of driving the Veyron sideways (it’s just too good for those shenanigans), it will crush each corner and blow through faster than any other car could manage. And that’s without sinking into handling mode, which drops the front end to the deck, lifts the rear wing, and opens up a whole new can of crazy.

When we hit the long straight, my passenger, development legend Loris Bicocchi, gives me the metaphorical wink. I plant it; the car kicks down three gears and launches down the road. We hit the 1,200-hp point, and apart from a vicious shudder at 5,000 rpm as the traction control stops the turbo boost from melting the tires, the acceleration is like a constant, violent wave.

With the traction control off, apparently, all four wheels will pour out smoke at this point and melt the Michelin rubber. Then again, if you can afford the $2.2 million price tag for the base car, $2.5 million for the naked carbon-fiber car I drove, or $2.73 million for one of five black and-orange World Record editions, fuel and rubber costs are little-people problems.

It’s a sad fact that only 300 Bugatti Veyrons will be built (only 30 of those will be Super Sports), and as the original was well beyond the driving skills of mere mortals, the extra speed is more about bragging rights than necessity. Still, this is a new landmark, the new benchmark by which all other cars will be measured. Not one will come close.

The Interceptor. The VFR. These two names have described one particular breed of Honda motorcycle, and for more than a quarter-century the company has alternated the monikers when labeling their flag ship high-tech two-wheeler.In 1983 the first Interceptor was born. It possessed what has been the heart of the machine from the beginning: a V-4 engine. This was a sport bike fit for racing at the track, but was also a comfortable enough to strap on some soft luggage and motor to Vegas. In 1986, the name Interceptor disappeared, and the VFR with its all-aluminum frame arrived. It brought with it more refinement while remaining a popular racing plat form. In 1990, though, the VFR debuted a stunning (and now signature) single-sided rear swingarm and officially left the track for a street only life as the ultimate gentleman’s sport bike. In ’98 the Interceptor name returned with an all-new “pivotless” frame design, side-mounted radiators, and wicked-crisp fuel injection. In 2002 the new century saw an Interceptor with an innovative valve control system (called VTEC) to boost both low- and high-rpm power—and optional ABS brakes were added later, along with excellent hard saddlebags.Unfortunately, the new VFR1200F is so radically advanced, so startlingly polished and wildly futuristic, that it makes its proud ancestors look like wheezing old minibikes. Honda’s new V-4 is a genuine stunner, and radically advanced in every aspect. Unlike the original 750-cc engine, the new 1200-cc VFR mill is directly derived from MotoGP technology, and the two rear cylinders reside inboard at the center of the crankshaft, while the front cylinders are positioned outboard. This means the bike is narrow where the rider sits, and you feel one with the machine rather than perched on top of it. Instead of a cable, a throttle-by-wire system directs the fuel injection via elec tronics, and the offset crankshaft configuration in concert with a new 76-degree V-angle delivers perfect primary balance to keep the big motor smooth.

A six-speed transmission is the standard gearbox, and it delivers power to the shaft final drive (a first for this family), but the wild ticket is Honda’s optional dual-clutch automatic gearbox, based on Formula 1 engineering. You can go fully auto, but the real fun explodes in manual mode, in which you tap a button with your left index finger to upshift, and touch a similar paddle with your thumb to downshift. The system works so well, even seasoned racers have lapped Japan’s Sugo Race way faster with the dual-clutch transmission than with the traditional unit. Handling is sharpened by excellent inverted front forks and a gas-charged single rear shock, and Honda’s brilliant Combined ABS brake system hauls the big bike down from speed in short order. A full complement of hard luggage and other accessories helps you create the ultimate sport-touring chariot.

5 Absurd Looking Cars

When most people get a car, they basically just want a few things out of it. First, they want it to actually, you know, function. There’s not much point in owning a car if it doesn’t actually run, is there? Along with that, most people are hoping they can get a car that looks cool. People love Ferraris, Porsches, Corvettes and so forth. What most people probably do not want, however, is an absolutely ridiculous looking car. You know, like the dog car from Dumb and Dumber. But there’s no way anyone would actually own or drive something like that in real life, is there? Come on, you’re smarter than that. Of course there are. Here are some of the most absurd looking cars in the world.

1.The Wooden Car

If you’re thinking of wooden cars, you’re probably thinking along the lines of a soap box derby, right? After all, no one in his right mind would build a car made entirely of wood. That’s just a ridiculous concept, right? Well, don’t tell that to Livio Di Marchi, who has gained some global fame for constructing wooden cars. In case you couldn’t tell from his name, Livio Di Marchi is Italian. Specifically, he is from Venice. You know what they have in Venice? Canals. There’s not a lot of use for a car in a city that’s mostly water, right?

Well, the beauty of Di Marchi’s car is that wood floats. So what he has built is an honest to god car/boat hybrid. When we say this thing is made of wood, by the way, we mean it’s entirely made of wood. He built his car to look like a Ferrari F50, so he’s got the “cool” part down, at least. Di Marchi doesn’t just limit his woodworking to his floating car, either. Do a quick Google search and just look at all of the ridiculous stuff this guy makes from wood. Some people need to get a hobby, but in Di Marchi’s case, maybe he should ease up just a little.

2.The Stiletto Car

Do you remember the old nursery rhyme about the old lady who lived in a shoe? Well, she had to get around somehow, right? You’d imagine when she finally got a babysitter she liked to go out for a night on the town. So how would she get around? Well, we have to imagine in a vehicle that looks an awful lot like this. Yes, there is an actual high heeled shoe car, for some bizarre reason. Why would someone drive a car like this? Lord only knows, because we sure as heck don’t.

Technically, this is more of a tricycle than an actual car, but we’re putting it in here anyway because it’s got a steering wheel, and the anonymous expert we just asked (trust us, he’s got great credentials) has assured us that’s all you need to be a car. This guy would know, too, because he’s a doctor of science, or something. And he agrees that the person who would build and then proceed to drive around in a high heeled shoe car is probably too crazy to argue with, so just smile and nod politely when he or she drives on by.

3.The Sand-Crawler Car

If you were not aware, Star Wars is a very popular film franchise which, to the best of our knowledge, consisted of just three films and then a bunch of merchandising, including three two hour long toy commercials that came out around the turn of the century. Anyway, people take Star Wars far too seriously, but that’s okay, because no one is crazy enough to go beyond dressing as Han at a convention or collecting the action figures and writing fan fiction, right? It’s not like anyone would try to construct their own version of a Star Wars vehicle, especially not a relatively obscure vehicle that makes exactly one appearance early in the first movie.

As it happens, that’s exactly what someone did in constructing the Sand-Crawler car, which is modeled after the Sand-Crawler that the Jawas use to tool around the desert, abducting stray droids and selling them into servitude. Man, we really have to hope that’s not what the guy who owns this car does, but we wouldn’t put it past whoever’s nuts enough to build this beast of a car.

4.The Mouse Car

Well you knew that after mentioning Dumb and Dumber up there in the introduction we had to have at least one animal themed car, right? What kind of a list of weird cars would this be if we did not feature at least one automobile covered in fur for some bizarre reason? And so, we bring you the Mouse Car, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, except it’s not a real mouse, of course, and it’s also not a car driven by a mouse. Although that would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?

Anyway, the Mouse Car features fur and some big old ears on top, and was built out of an old Volkswagon Beetle. We can’t imagine those ears are particularly good for helping the car reduce drag and improve the aerodynamic aspect of the design, but a Mouse Car without ears would just be silly.

5.The Cat Car

Come on, did you really think we could pass up the opportunity to have a Cat Car chase a Mouse Car on our list? If you did, then clearly you don’t know us very well. Anyway, where the Mouse Car features fur on the outside, the Cat Car eschews that idea and replaces it with just being really kind of creepy. Built to look like a cat getting ready to pounce, the Cat Car features a tail, paws, and lifeless, disturbing eyes.

We aren’t very sure why they didn’t just make the headlights into the eyes, but it probably has something to do with the fact that headlights don’t offer the capability to steal your soul the way those horrible, horrible cat eyes can. The best course of action if you see the Cat Car coming down the street is to just pull over to the side of the road and hope they don’t see you. Or, hey, you could always go borrow Harry and Lloyd’s Dog Car to chase it away. Yep, ending on another Dumb and Dumber reference. We’re just good like that.
